Nothing More Than Nothing

My friend Sunday Larson author of Secret of the Missing Crown, posted this on facebook:

Your voice matters…
A short story about keeping on doing what you believe in. And not stopping because you cannot see the difference you’re making.
A Tale for All Seasons, by Kurt Kauter

Nothing More than Nothing

“Tell me the weight of a snowflake,” a sparrow asked of a wild dove.

“Nothing more than nothing,” was the answer.

“In that case I must tell you a story,” the sparrow said. “I sat on a branch of a fir, close to its trunk, when it began to snow. Since I did not have anything better to do, I counted the snowflakes settling on the twigs and needles of my branch. Their number was 3,741,952. When the 3,741,953rd snowflake dropped onto the branch, nothing more than nothing, as you say, the branch broke off.”

Having said that, the sparrow flew away.

The dove thought about it for a while, and finally said to herself, “Perhaps there is only one person’s voice lacking for peace to come to the world.”

Not long ago, I was taking a walk after the rain and stumbled on this rock. I don’t know why the Nothing More Than Nothing story reminds of it.  But it does.

I  have spent many hours in silence listening for the call of my heart inviting me to be peace.

I am peace.

I am.

May we all have the presence to hold peace in our hearts. May we all know that there is no other. My actions reflect who I am.
